• Recall and recap on formation of ions from atoms.
• Introduction to electrostatic forces of attraction between oppositely charged ions in an ionic bond.
• Formation of ionic bonds and ionic compounds (transfer of electrons from metals to non-metals)
• Drawing of ‘dot-and-cross’ diagrams for ionic compounds.
WEEK 1 / 6 Revision test on formula and equations
• Ionic compounds and their properties.
• Revision of drawing of ‘dot-and-cross’ diagrams for ionic compounds.
WEEK 2 / 7 Covalent Bonding and Covalent Compounds and Molecules
• Introduction to the sharing of electrons between atoms.
• Formation of covalent bonds and simple covalent compounds and elements.
• Drawing of ‘dot-and-cross’ diagrams for covalent compounds.
• Revision of drawing of ‘dot-and-cross’ diagrams for covalent compounds and elements.
WEEK 3 / 8 • Short test on ionic bonding and compound.
• Deduce the arrangement of electrons in other covalent molecules.
WEEK 4 / 9 Metallic Bonding
• Describe metals as a lattice of positive ions in a sea of mobile electrons.
• Relate the electrical conductivity of metals to the mobility of the electrons in the structure.
Relative Molecular Masses and Relative Atomic Masses
WEEK 5 / 10 • Short test on covalent bonding and compound.
Percentage purity and Percentage Composition by mass
REVISION WEEK • Revision of drawing of ‘dot-and-cross’ diagrams for ionic compounds.
WEEK 11 & 12 • Revision of drawing of ‘dot-and-cross’ diagrams for simple covalent molecules and compounds.

This is a reminder to bring your ODT as there will be a temperature-taking exercise in the classrooms on one of the days after school reopens on 28 June 2010. Otherwise, you will have to to purchase an ODT from the bookshop.

Do take note that CCM will resume in the first week of semester 2, the timing will remain the same as in semester 1.

Please bring along your CCM textbooks.

Dear Sec 2 students (Sec 201 - 208)
This is to remind you that the English ICAS test will be conducted on 30 June (Wednesday) afternoon. The exact time will be told to you when the new time-table is out.
Please keep the afternoon on 30 June free. You were told earlier to make arrangement for your other appointment if it falls on the same day.
The test will be conducted in your own classroom. You will sit according to your class seating arrangement. Please get a pencil and an eraser ready.

Dear students,
Please be reminded to complete your Physics June Holidays Homework.
The worksheet is attached here in case you lose your hardcopy.
Read up on Electricity from your textbook, upper Secondary textbooks, other guide books or the internet to aid you in your answering.
Your Science files have been checked and are ready for collection (201 and 205 have already collected).
Please look for me in the mornings of 7-11 Jun to retrieve your file (but I may be in class at certain timings).
I'm sure you want to do revision and do not want your file to collect dust.I have a limited number of entry passes to access the competition venue of RoboCup 2010, valid from 21st-24th June at Suntec City.
If you are interested to attend the event, do not forget to collect your passes from me when you collect your file.
I have enough passes for you to bring your siblings/ cousins/ friends along.
